C&D Foods, which was set up by former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds, will open a new pet food pouch manufacturing facility in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford with the creation of 70 jobs over the next three years.

The new facility, which involves an investment of more than €15 million, will produce pet food pouches for many of Europe’s leading own label brands.

C&D said it has invested more than €55 million in Edgeworthstown since 2007 when it built a new plant following a major fire.

The company is run by Reynolds’ son, Philip and is part of Larry Goodman’s ABP Food Group. It employs more than 1,000 people across six countries and is the second largest private label pet food company in Europe.
