Ireland Peru Trade: “Trade between Ireland and Peru has quadrupled in the last 6 years, and this rapid expansion is expected to continue especially in light of Brexit”
This was a key point highlighted at World Trade Center Dublin’s ‘Business Opportunities in Peru’ event. WTC Dublin co-hosted this diplomatic briefing with the newly established Embassy of Peru in Ireland, on Wednesday, 8 May in the beautiful setting of the Peruvian Embassy in Dublin. This timely event coincided with recent arrival of H.E. Ana Maria Sánchez de Ríos, Ambassador of Peru to Ireland.
Alberto Gonzales, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Peru, addressed the audience and presented on trade and investment opportunities for Irish companies in Peru.
Mr. Gonzales highlighted the “investor friendly policy climate” in Peru, infrastructure gaps in Peru which offers opportunities to Irish investors, and key Irish exports to Peru. Particular emphasis was placed on the export of dairy products, pharmaceuticals and beverages to Peru. Mr. Gonzales highlighted Peruvian’s preference towards evaporated milk; he added that three companies supply 90% of the Peruvian market.
The attendees, which included business players in the dairy, pharmaceutical, beverage, and medtech sectors, availed of the Q&A session which closed the event.
